VizaPhoton <Work in Progress>
Vizaphoton is a MEL Script that I’ve been working on for the past week. So far, I’ve been unimpressed with the extensiveness of Maya’s built in Map Visualizer for photon emission. My idea is to construct a MEL Script to parent particle emitters to my lights, thus becoming a more accurate representation of photons. The particle emitters will be constrained to the cone angle of each light (for spot lights) and will be limited to the number of photons given by the user. The particles can also be colored for each light, thus eliminating confusion as to their origin. Each particle will be capable of bouncing a number of times equal to the Max Trace Depth in Mental Ray before dying. Below is a crude example of what I’m going for:
